This collaboration leverages LG Innotek’s expertise in optical and precision engineering alongside TDK’s superior sensor technologies, aiming to enhance robotic capabilities.
The partnership’s first significant outcome is expected in 2027 with the release of a vision sensing module that integrates an inertial sensor. This innovative system is designed to amalgamate visual, motion, direction, and sound data, enabling robots to interpret and react to their environments with greater accuracy. An important aspect of this module is its ability to minimize image distortion caused by movement, thus improving the robot’s overall perception.
In addition to vision sensing, the companies are working on a tactile sensing module that mimics the functionality of human skin. This technology will allow robots to experience touch and pressure through their extremities and bodies, enhancing their interaction with the physical world. The tactile module is also slated for a 2027 release, marking a significant step in robotics technology.
